Why don’t you mix The Plant Based Egg powder with water like you do with other egg replacers? It isn’t necessary, and you save time, mess, and an extra bowl when you add the dry Plant Based Egg powder to your flour and increase the liquid in your recipe. You can mix the powder with water or veggie broth if you are using The Plant Based Egg as a binder in a recipe that doesn’t call for flour (like a veggie burger). When doing this, we recommend adding the powder to the water and using a mini whisk to mix until evenly blended. Mix your “egg” right before adding it to your other ingredients as it will get very thick as it sits. However, if your recipe calls for at least two tablespoons of flour or at least 1/4 cup of sugar, you can mix The Plant Based Egg with either and increase the liquid in your recipe according to the package directions.
Do I need to add an egg replacer to my recipe when baking with Freely Vegan All-Purpose Gluten Free Flour? No! You do not need to add any egg replacement when using our flour because it already has The Plant Based Egg built in.
Can I use the package directions for wheat flour with a store-bought gluten free flour blend? It depends on the flour and what you are making. Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking Flour works well for most cookie recipes when you use The Plant Based Egg to sub for eggs in the recipe. However, muffins made with the same Bob’s flour come out dense and gummy.
Can I use your gluten free flour blends in standard recipes that call for eggs? We don’t know. We are vegan, so have not tested our flour blends in recipes that use eggs. We can confidently say, however, that you will never miss eggs in any of our recipes! They are not necessary and just add unwanted cholesterol and fat to your recipe. You will get beautiful results without eggs!
